Freedom for Immigrants issued a cease and desist letter yesterday to Immigration & Customs Enforcement (ICE) after the agency’s latest attack on the organization’s First Amendment right to freedom of speech.

Over 50 family members of dozens of men on hunger strike in Louisiana immigration detention facilities will be gathering in New Orleans on Monday, August 12, at 8 am in front of the ICE Field Office to protest their indefinite and abusive detention.

Freedom for Immigrants is set to launch a rapid response support fund to meet the escalating need that immigrants are facing around the country as the Trump administration continues to implement a brutal anti-immigrant agenda. 

By planning to conduct mass arrests on families, the Trump administration is proving that its cruelty knows no bounds and that it is hell-bent on disrupting the lives of immigrants, both in the interior and on the border.

On this year’s World Refugee Day, Freedom for Immigrants stands in solidarity with those individuals and families who’ve been forced to flee their countries and  calls on all people in the United States to open up their homes to those in need of refuge.  Together, we will show the rest of the country that caging people is not only immoral — but also unnecessary.
