Work with Freedom for Immigrants

Freedom for Immigrants (FFI) is devoted to abolishing immigration detention, while ending the isolation of people currently suffering in this profit-driven system. FFI monitors human rights abuses inside immigrant detention centers through our National Immigration Detention Hotline and National Visitation Network, connecting people inside detention to a team of trained hotline volunteers and a network of community groups that provide immediate support, record their personal testimonies, and build support for abolition. Through advocacy and narrative change, FFI advances policies that divest from immigration detention and instead invest in systems of care that strengthen immigrant communities—a cornerstone of our vision for how to build a world without immigration detention.

We are looking for passionate candidates who hold a deep commitment to our mission to abolish immigration detention. Our team is committed to building an anti-racist inclusive organization and seeks talented individuals who embody and uphold anti-racist principles and practices. We strongly encourage people with lived experience to apply, including direct experience navigating the U.S. immigration system, the immigration detention system, or the mass incarceration system.

FFI strives to create a culture centered on care, sustainability, and compassion for our shared humanity, and staff/group therapy is embraced to enhance our work and relationships. We have a staff music playlist and wear silly hats to Zoom parties, so not taking yourself too seriously is a ‘must have’ for anyone looking to join our team.

We are regularly looking for people who are collaborative, team-oriented, and intimately familiar with the power of collective action. Please check back regularly as positions may be posted at any time.
